Soaking my pane with it's pain,
The clouds unleash showers that batter my frame. Now keen to the landscape’s floral change, The bees buzz by me humming and pollen stained. The sprinklers splash against me, with children running in between. They have chosen days outside over days in front of the screen. Tireless as they are, into the night lasts their screams, As they jump and crawl in pursuit of the firefly beams Steaming on my sill sits succulent pie to cool. Racing past me to the ground, more leaves begin to pool. They are scattered all over by children rushing to school, Who hurry home, replace the pie with a pumpkin, and morph into candy deprived ghouls. Icy patterns scale upwards with the sun's trip South. Fireplace flames reflect off me keeping the cold out. I am fogged by the heat of a longing child's mouth, And between her and the carrot wielding snowman, I have a friend both within and without.
